Self Loyalty
Self-love is a Buzzword that we hear of a lot. And whilst it is needed and there's a very good reason we hear of it ! I don’t like to use it, because it's very broad and also a hard thing to attain, especially if we are bypassing self acceptance
So i like to break-it-down into tangible bites , which i like to call :
● Self Trust
● Self Respect
● Self Loyalty
● Self care
● And just being your own bad ass fierce loving companion! (i’m not very badass, but we try)
But the word I want to focus on today is Self-Loyalty . Because well it's my Buzzword, and I'll be using it a lot. I also believe it's a lot easier to work towards and attain through a commitment to yourself and journey.
And why I am also a big fan of self-loyalty. Is because learning to be loyal to my body again, was how I healed my relationship with my body, first and foremost.
Ok, but how? hear me out….
Eating Disorders, being hard on our bodies or criticising our food choices teaches us to abandon ourselves & our bodies . These behaviours are rooted in punishment and fear.
And so , the medicine is in Self Loyalty. We need to get to a place where our bodies' needs and desires are listened to, expressed and prioritised.
Even if this means choosing ourselves and our needs above someone else’s. (Yes, I know this can be scary, especially if you are a recovering people pleaser, like myself!)
Our bodies need to be able to trust us and feel safe in our presence, this is how we build a loyal relationship. We need to give our body a voice and learn how to advocate for it and ourselves.
Our bodies need trust, respect, care and safety, and the medicine is in giving that to ourselves.
Becoming loyal to our innermost truth.
